Our friend and colleague in the Kairos Quartet (2022–2025), violinist Alexa Renger, has passed away. She succumbed to a serious illness on March 25, 2026, in Berlin.
We mourn the loss of a wonderful musician and a very approachable, always interested, and fun-loving person who was deeply committed to contemporary (quartet) music in many ways. At 58, she left us far too soon. In our rehearsal room, a piece of her artwork hangs from the ceiling, to which she added a final rose for the fourth quartet member when she was already ill. We miss her dearly, but we are grateful for the time we shared, which is also documented in various video recordings of performances with her. This time was simply far too short.
